So this was an odd one for me. I was traveling to visit family during the holidays and I had my holga on me (shocking) well I was so angry because I hand carried my medium format film with me through xray, some of it was high speed... I prefer to not worry about damage to my film and wonder if I am shooting cool photos that will never come out.

Well, I lost a considerable amount of my film. All of my high speed film was shot, this was shot using 400 I think it was, what made me upset was that I told the folks at the machines I had medium format 3200 speed film that I didnt want zapped. he said oh it will be fine. When I took it to my developer she shook her head and said it wasnt likely. So I was crushed (turned out she was right)

So, of the batch that got zapped only a handful survived, and this was one. Shot using my holga, medium format 120 400 speed out an airplane window. The clouds were really beautiful, I dont have a digital since it was broken (no end in sight to getting a new one *sigh*) so I tried my holga.

I love my holga, most of you know that...but I wasnt really sure it would work on something like this. It not only caught the amazing flow of clouds, it added a holga touch to it that was unique to me. it almost looked like it wrinkled the photo. At any rate, one of my more unique photos thats for sure :o)

I hope you enjoy it also!

hehe thanks :o) Part of the charm here is the fact I am shooting with a holga, which automagically adds its own thing to it, then couple that with me taking the shot through a commercial airline window. I cant explain some of the oddity such as the ripple that makes the photo look like it was wet. I dunno, it was one of those lets shoot and see what happens, of course with the holga every shot is like that LOL

I love shooting with the medium format 120, downside... the film is crazy expensive to develop. Someone on here posted that 120 should be able to be developed where 35mm is, however in the closest big town I have of 1 million people there are very few places that develop this film, and the ones that do charge far more than 35mm.

I am looking into developing my own film. I was told 120 was easier than 35mm... I figure it cant hurt to attempt it hehe... I also want to try the trick of rigging the holga to photograph 35mm film, it looks so funny since the photo covers all of the film, even the spoke holes, so when a developer goes to develop the film they get super confused. You get some great shots apparently though.

Thats yet another reason I love holgas, they are so versatile. They have personality, they work best when taped together, you can modify them all you want to do crazy things.. like make one into a poloroid camera... how cool is that? I dont know any other cameras that can do that hehe.

yea it really i great...
I still haven't got to develope my first film, but I know that theres a shop nearby where they "only" charges 16dollars..I think thats pretty fair ^^

beautiful shot. So surreal. Sorry to hear about your film.

Momentarily inspired and then for everafter clinging to the brief and fleeting memory of vivid inspiration.

I thought that was sand in a desert until I read the description! Beautiful pic.
Sucks about the film going through the x-ray machines though.
